چکیده

The continuum theory of micromagnetism is used to study ultrathin films with magnetic anisotropy varying laterally on the nanometer scale. A series of infinitely long stripes with alternating inand out-of-plane uniaxial anisotropy is considered as a model for patterned ferromagnetic films. The analytical solution based on an effective anisotropy description of the dipolar energy is given as a function of the material parameters (exchange and anisotropy constants) and the width of the stripes. States of uniform and non-uniform magnetization are obtained. For film of finite thickness the exact value of the dipolar energy is calculated numerically and the numerical solution is compared with the analytical one. We find that the correction to the dipolar energy is negligible for nickel, while for cobalt and iron it has to be considered as a function of the anisotropies, the width of the stripes and the thickness of the film. r 2003 Elsevier B.V. Magnetic anisotropies in ultrathin iron films grown on the surface-reconstructed GaAs substrate

Magnetic anisotropies of epitaxial ultrathin iron films grown on the surface-reconstructed GaAs substrate were studied. Ferromagnetic resonance technique was exploited to determine magnetic parameters of the films in the temperature range of 4–300 K. Extraordinary angular dependence of the FMR spectra was explained by the presence of fourfold and twofold in-plane anisotropies. A strong in-plane...

Analytical Solutions for Spatially Variable Transport-Dispersion of Non-Conservative Pollutants

Analytical solutions have been obtained for both conservative and non-conservative forms of one-dimensional transport and transport-dispersion equations applicable for pollution as a result of a non-conservative pollutant-disposal in an open channel with linear spatially varying transport velocity and nonlinear spatially varying dispersion coefficient on account of a steady unpolluted lateral i...

Asymmetric domain nucleation and unusual magnetization reversal in ultrathin Co films with perpendicular anisotropy.

We report unexpected phenomena during magnetization reversal in ultrathin Co films and Co/Pt multilayers with perpendicular anisotropy. Using magneto-optical Kerr microscopy and magnetic force microscopy we have observed asymmetrical nucleation centers where the reversal begins for one direction of the field only and is characterized by an acute asymmetry of domain-wall mobility. We have also o...

Buffer Induced Magnetic Patterning of Ultrathin Co Layer

The possibility of magnetic anisotropy engineering of ultrathin Co films in the scale of several dozen nanometers is investigated by magnetooptical magnetometry. In Au/Co/Au sandwiches the spin reorientation transition from the out-of-plane to the in-plane configuration is observed, when Co layer thickness exceeds 1.9 nm. Molybdenum as the underlayer suppresses the Co thickness range for which ...

Two-Dimensional Solute Transport with Exponential Initial Concentration Distribution and Varying Flow Velocity

The transport mechanism of contaminated groundwater has been a problematic issue for many decades, mainly due to the bad impact of the contaminants on the quality of the groundwater system. In this paper, the exact solution of two-dimensional advection-dispersion equation (ADE) is derived for a semi-infinite porous media with spatially dependent initial and uniform/flux boundary conditions. The...
